When I was an undergraduate I had the opportunity to interview the man who would become the next president of the United States and the man who would be America’s next president. To say that I was blown away would be an understatement.
What’s really crazy is the fact that this man, who grew up in the middle of most of the major cities of the US, was the first Hispanic ever elected president of the US. That’s crazy, but it was also a huge, important part of his story. In fact, he was born in the very same city I was in college and graduated in the same year I did.
Well that’s pretty cool, but one thing that really made the story for me was the way that he talks about his childhood. He talks about growing up in the same city as us. Thats pretty cool and I respect that he came back to a city that shaped him.
The problem with that is that it’s not a town, it’s a city, and those in it do have a town-ness to them, but they aren’t the people that made it a town. In fact, you could say that if anything a city like New York is just the same city as any other. The fact is that a city like New York is a city. It’s not just a bunch of people in it.
So what about the city of New York? So yeah, I guess the city of New York is like any other city. Its not just a bunch of people in it.
I mean, if you were to ask me what makes New York different from every other city, I would say it is the people and the buildings. These people are the real New Yorkers. The buildings, you could say its the people.
The buildings make it New York. The people make it a city. The people make it a city. The buildings are the people, the people are the buildings. So you could say that the buildings are the people. I would say that the buildings are the people (I mean, it is a city after all).
The buildings are the people, the people are the buildings.
We’ve all been there. And our experience is one of the ways we understand the truth about ourselves. We can’t put our finger on what we are. We can’t pinpoint what we are. But it’s always about us. We are who we are, that is who we are, and what we do in this life is our choice.
